On March 19, 2007, Mr. Thomas Kleber, General Manager of the Park Hotel Vitznau Switzerland, accepted the interview from journalists Jenny and Vicky in Beijing Hotel, China. The Park Hotel Viznau, so called “the fairy-tale castle by the lake”, is renowned by its warmth and privacy. The hotel, one of the most luxurious hotels in Switzerland, attracts the tourists all over the world, and also is the best place for wedding and honeymoon. Except the graceful surrounding and discreet service in the hotel, Mr. Thomas Kleber is an experienced hotel manager. This is his first time to China, and our magazine had an exclusive interview with him.
The lovers’ Paradise, on the shores of the Lake Lucerne
Park Hotel Viznau originated from a simple boarding house Villa Pfyffer that quietly located on a rich land of 15 acres at the foot of the magnificent Mount Rigi by the Lake Lucerne. Architect Karl Koller started establishing the Park Hotel Viznau in 1901. Opened in April 1903, the hotel today resembles a majestic, fairy-tale castle with all the modern comforts in a luxurious hotel. Mr. Thomas Kleber scrupulously keeps and protects the old traditions of this mystical castle, the Paradise in the World.
Park Hotel Viznau is a seasonal hotel, which opens from April to later October each year. Although it opens seasonally, the hotel still attracts so many tourists all over the world for its fairy-tale beautiful view. When mentioned this, Mr. Thomas Kleber’s thoughts seemed to fly back to the beautiful Lake Lucerne; because of the foggy and rainy weather in winter in the Lake Lucerne area, the hotel chooses to open in the best season. Near the hotel, there is a small Viznau town with a population of over 1000, where you can take railway up to Mount Rigi for a breathtaking view of the Lake Lucerna and snow-capped mountain. The colorful mountain reflects on the lake surface, which always leads people long for the better life.
Park Hotel Viznau is known for its warmth and privacy, and attracts tourists around the world. Stepping into the room and looking at the mist-touched lake and towering Alps from balconies, you will found a fairyland around you. This is also the best place for wedding and honeymoon. In order to assure the tourists’ conveniences, Viznau set up a global marriage institution. The lovers can make reservation for the rooms and the whole set of wedding service, and experience an Alps wedding ceremony, including holding the marriage in the chapel on the top of the mountain, taking pictures and enjoying the Switzerland trombone, then coming back to the hotel. There are 33 honeymoon suites in this grand chateau with a history of 102 years. Everyone stay there will feel so romantic with the room decorated with soft and warm color.
Mr. Thomas Kleber told us, the best honeymoon suite is the one on the highest loft of the hotel. It is an extremely quiet place that only can be reached by a narrow staircase. The legend of the Heroes and Belles will become true with the beautiful view from the towers and corridors around three-side over the loft, where a romantic love story usually begins.
Realize the dreaming Castle Period
The Banquet Room of the hotel can accommodate 90 people in maximum. Mr. Thomas Kleber told us, among all the guests visiting Park Hotel Viznau, there are about 70 percent for holidays, around 10% to 20%for directors meetings, another 10% for business trips. After hard work, they will have three to five days enjoy staying in the hotel.
Besides the elegant environment and discreet service, General Manager Mr. Thomas Kleber has his unique way of management as well. He said, staff of the hotel serves for the whole team, and there is no rank difference. Everyone has his own responsibility and plays a vital role to get the ball rolling. He also mentioned, the biggest feature of the Park Hotel Viznau is that they serve the guests beyond their expectations and make the hotel a home away from home. The employees treat every guest as their own relatives and serve them by heart. Park Hotel Viznau not only proves the true love in the lovers’ paradise, but also keeps on realizing people’s dream of the castle life!
When turned to Chinese Market, Mr. Thomas kleber’s drew his thoughts back from the Lake Lucerne. He said, Switzerland hasn’t join the European Union yet, so tourists cannot hold European Schengen Visa to visit Switzerland. In addition to visa is different from the contracted countries, what is more, the Chinese tradition, so China is not the big market to them until now, but Mr. Kleber knew that China is developing quickly, and he was convinced that more and more Chinese people will go traveling in Switzerland, and enjoy the Park Hotel Viznau.
Mr. Thomas Kleber decides to keep the Park Hotel Viznau, the Garden Paradise, deep in his heart. He wants to be a patron saint of the Lovers’ Paradise and blesses each couple together with all the employees of the hotel forever.
