Ischemic heart disease is characterized by reduced blood
supply to the cardiac muscle and is the primary cause of
death associated with myocardial infarction usually occurring
as a result of damage induced by cardiac ischemia-reperfusion
(I/R).
Ischemic preconditioning (IPC) is a phenomenon by which
cyclic episodes of brief I/R protect the myocardium against
subsequent lethal ischemic injury.It is known to significantly
reduce the infarct size,arrhythmia,and post-ischemic

Numerous studies have shown that IPC can be mimicked

against to I/R injury.In addition,isolated hearts stretched
by a transient increase in left ventricular end-diastolic
pressure (LVEDP),resulted in a significant enhancement
of post-ischemic functional recovery and decrease in infarct
size [7,8].However,the specific cellular signaling pathways
of stretch-induced cardioprotection (SIC) remain unclear
till date.
