Poor Pluto We all know that there are nine planets in the solar system.But,now there is some change.Pluto is not a planet any more. In 1930,an American,Clyde Tombaugh,found Pluto when he was 24 years old.Later it was thought as the ninth planet and the farthest one from the sun in the solar system.But in the years since,astronomers have been discussing if Pluto is really a planet.After all,it is smaller than other planets,and travels in a strange way.In August,2006,some 2,500 astronomers from 75 countries met in Prague,Czech Republic.They took part in a meeting of the International Astronomical Union.They passed a new definition of planets.The answer was:Pluto is not a planet! The astronomers decided that only Mercury,Venus,Earth,Mars,Jupiter,Saturn,Uranus and Neptune fit the definition of planrts. Tombaugh's widow Patricia said Tombaugh,like any other good astronomer,would accept the result.However,she still felt a little sad.
