I wonder if I can try (a third time)?
问题时括号中的 a third time,即第三次,正常情况下我们会说“the third time”,为什么答案是“a third time”呢?答案会是错的没吗?

但我觉得光看句子原意,为什么不是“试第三次”呢（前面已经试过两次了,现在希望试第三次,而第三次是唯一的,那理论上就应该是特制了）,要这样解析给学生听似乎有点牵强,还有其他解析吗?谢谢!

a third time更趋向于再一次的意思,the third time是指第3次的意思,再这个句子中,题意是再试一次的意思
