Good morning/afternoon/evening, I'm lee chang ting. Today we are going to talk about saving grain. In our daily life, we can find that there're many people are wasting food. Perhaps you haven't realized you are wasting food, perhaps you think that is not a big deal, perhaps you still think that there're many natural resources we can use.
But in reality, the population in China is more than one billion two hundred and fifty million, and the annual net growth is around twelve million. Per capita plow land in China is 1.2 acreages; it just is the quarter of per plow land in the world. Wrong application of plow land, sand digging, decline in the quality of plow land and desertification. Those are the factors to damage plow land. From 1981 to 1995, there are totally eighty one million acreages of plow land disappeared. Currently, the amount of plow land decreases thirty acreages every year. Because of that, the grain yield reduces two hundred and fifty kilograms every year. And this situation is intensifying now. All over the country, forty percent of people who lives in urban area rely on import food. It is the truth who must not ignore!
Saving grain is our obligation. Wasting food is a disgraceful behavior, is not because you want so you do it. We can save grain naturally if we have the awareness. When we are dining, we shouldn’t take extra food if we don’t need it. When we are eating out, we should only order the food what we need, but not for showing off. And the leaving food should be packaged up and taken back home. Environmentally-friendly lifestyle is being a trend, and being environmentally conscious is the essential element the new generation does have.
