having a girlfriend or boyfriend is an important element of a teenager;s life.It is a natural part of growing up which helps you learn about yourself and find out how you get on with other people.Nevertheless,some teenagers today choose not to have a relationship like this because they have different priorities.
Candy wong.for example,used to go out with someone she met at school.Last year she ended their relationship because she felt she couldn't control what was happening any more.AT first we got on really well and I enjoyed going out at weekends.explained candy.we could even sit together in the library.I thought i was so lucky to be able to do my studies and at the same time be near someone i cared for.however,things began to go wrong when school exams got near.candy was under a lot of pressure because she didn't think she had enough time to keep up the relationship and still do her revision'i had to decide what i really wanted frome life at that moment.in the end i decided my schoolwork should come first because i really want to go to university,and it's not easy to get a place.
this decision made life difficult for candy.she ended her relationship just when she needed the support of someone close.however,she doesn't regret her action and feels that she still doesn't have the time or the maturity to find a balance between these tow aspects of her life.
'after all,i'm only 17 and there will be plenty of opportunities for me to date and have fun in the future'said candy.at the moment i have my friends at school and my posters of popstars at home to keep me company.'
