so that和such that如何使用
1） so that可以连在一起引导结果从句时,可以分开,也可以放在一起.so that分开时,so后面可接“形容词,副词或分词；so位于句首,主句的主谓要倒装.
例 1 The book was so boring that he gave up reading it half way through.
这本书非常乏味,他读了一半就不读了.
例 2 He spoke so rapidly that we could not clearly understand him.
他说得太快,使我们无法清楚地了解他的意思.
例 3 So badly was he injured that he had to be sent to the hospital.
他的伤势很重,不得不送医院.
例 4 Susan was so exhausted that she couldn’t eat dinner.
苏姗疲惫得吃不下晚餐.
2） such (…) that只用来引导结果状语从句.such后面可以接单数可数名词,复数可数名词,不可数名词.such放在句首,主谓要倒装.
例 1 This is such a useful dictionary that I’m thinking of buying it.
这本字典很有用,我正打算买一本.
例 2 This book is written in such easy English that beginners can understand it.
这本书是用浅易的英语写的,所以初学者可以读懂.
例 3 They are such fine teachers that we all hold them in great respect.
他们是非常好的老师,我们对他们极为尊敬.
例 4 The shock was such (= so great) that he was almost driven mad.
因为打击太大,她差点发疯了.
例 5 Such was the force of the eruption that the whole town was covered with ash.
火山爆发的威力大得使整个城市都被火山灰淹没了.
