经过十几年的发展,中国自主品牌汽车获得了长足的进步.在传统的汽车三巨头“一汽”、“东风”、“上汽”外又诞生了以奇瑞、吉利和比亚迪为代表的新生的自主品牌.凭借政府政策的大力支持以及自身正确的发展战略,这些新生的自主品牌逐渐成长为市场上主流的获得消费者认同的汽车品牌.而这些新元素的注入也在中国的汽车市场上掀起了一个自主品牌的改革发展之风.自主品牌的发展也开始能够影响到国际品牌在中国的发展战略.
由于历史和生长环境的原因,中国的自主品牌轿车企业在成长过程中有着了很多类似的经历.

受加入“WTO”的影响从2002年1月12 日起,以天汽集团为首的轿车企业掀起了降价狂潮.直到如今在国内的汽车市场,价格依然是主宰市场的一个重要因素.
自主品牌之所以普遍的采用价格战形式也是由国内实际的发展阶段所决定的.但是当轿车的消费者看重的是汽车的品牌与技术,自主品牌的价格优势很难转变成市场上的竞争优势.

近年来中国轻型汽车出口量开始明显上升,增长势头也越来越猛.其中主要以中低价格区间的皮卡、轿车和suv为主.自主品牌企业对出口量的增加有着巨大的贡献.
中国企业在发展国内市场的同时,也逐渐加快了国际化的道路.中国汽车在与国外同等级汽车品牌的竞争中是有优势的,这也就解释了自主品牌出口量迅速增长的原因.
